With the parliamentary debate well and truly underway in New South Wales, this Wednesday’s webinar will be a great chance to hear from one of the state's leading campaigners for voluntary assisted dying (VAD).

We’re grateful to have Penny Hackett, president of Dying with Dignity NSW, giving some of her time during a big week for the campaign to share some insights into the grassroots effort to have VAD legalised in her state.

We're also excited to have Dr Nick Carr, a Victorian GP who is actively involved with providing VAD care, joining us. He will reflect on the reforms made in his state and across the country in the past few years.

The webinar is being held in tribute to the late Dr Rodney Syme, who did so much to support the cause to give terminally ill Australians the right to die with dignity.

In the Rationale magazine last week, Si Gladman wrote about Rodney’s final stand on VAD – a submission made to a Senate inquiry in which he advocated for the right of citizens in the Northern Territory and the ACT to have access to VAD.
