Just a quick note in case you're interested...
Peter Fitzsimons, chair of the Australian Republic Movement (ARM), will be explaining the ARM's recently announced "Australia Choice" model of becoming a republic. It's a neat way to bridge the divide
between the 'minimalist' model (essentially a president chosen by two thirds of the federal parliament) and the 'direct election' model (open slather).
If you haven't turned your mind to the issue of The Republic of recent times, or if you're not quite sure what to think about it, or if you haven't heard Fitzy speak before, it'll be worth going along!
