Help us tackle the Religious Instruction program

Hi ,

Did you know that, in Queensland, you can ask to view the materials being delivered by religious missionaries as part of the Religious Instruction (RI) program in public schools?

After we raised our concerns about church groups viewing the RI program as an “amazing mission field”, a spokesperson for education minister Grace Grace told us that parents could ask to see the teaching material “at any time”.

Can you help us to find out what’s being taught in RI?

If you want to help, follow these steps:

Write to your school principal to ask to see the material being taught in RI classes.
Make a copy of the material.
Share the copied material with us.

You may remember that earlier this year we reported that missionaries from Citipointe Church were using the RI program to “harvest” children “for the Lord”. Since then, we’ve also reported that a parents group, Queensland Parents for Secular State Schools (QPSSS), has renewed its call for a full parliamentary review of the RI program. And we support that proposal!
