A councillor at the City of Adelaide council suggests the
imposition of mandatory Christian worship at the start of meetings should be replaced with a more inclusive and welcoming practice like a minute's silence to reflect on one's duty. Disciples of the Australian Christian Lobby are bombarding councillors with outraged emails.
If a minute's silence on Anzac Day is
admirable, why not at the start of council meetings? Answer: because it's not about the content of the practice, it's about the politics - ie, about retaining power.
