Good morning ,
As the palace PR machine (predictably) goes into overdrive, I thought
I'd bring you Monty Python's view of it all:
A peasant asks King Arthur how he became king and Arthur replies: "The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, should carry
Excalibur!"
To which another peasant says, "Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony!"
Having contributed this gem to the ARM, I rest my case.
