Good morning ,
I understand most of you are not inclined
to give Rupert Murdoch any of your hard-earned money and therefore you do not pay him to access his flagship (but failing) newspaper, The Australian. But I do that for you. And this morning, I urge you to read an excellent article by the excellent Claire Lehmann, founder of Quillette.
I do realise the topic of her analysis is contentious: the spread of laws that allow for "self identification", particularly by natal men claiming they are women. As she points out, proponents of such laws like to claim opponents are in bed with the religious right, "But the recognition of biological sex is not a religious matter: it is a scientific one." Exactly. And it's a tendency that must be recognised and
resisted.
[Aaagghh ... best laid plans. I was hoping to find a way of attaching a pdf of Claire's article to this email but with 10 mins to go before I should hit the send
button, I declare myself defeated. I will work on how to do that for future articles ... Sorry!]
