Leaders and groupies in the Catholic church are outraged that a secular government has the balls to do something when they take our money but refuse to provide lawful services. Ought to be more of it, I say.

There is no such thing as conscientious objection by an institution! Only people can have consciences; institutions have policies and rules. If a taxpayer-funded hospital refuses to provide lawful health services, then it deserves to lose its 'licence to operate'. I can think of a few other institutions that should be next in line...

Read how the clerics come out fighting to preserve their taxpayer-funded assets: using terms such as "land-and-assets grab", "most extreme euthanasia and assisted suicide laws", "state-sanctioned and taxpayer-funded killing of the vulnerable". They just don't get it. People are sick and tired of their self-serving, presumptuous, pontificating conceit.

"The turnout was close to 90 per cent, but it’s a mistake to call the elections free and fair .. Turkish media is heavily controlled, the monopoly of power is absolute .. religious fundamentalism and ultranationalism have made big gains .. very bad news for anyone who believes in democracy and respects the most basic human rights .. I felt deeply demoralised.."
