As promised, here's the results of our (totally unscientific, invalid
and unreliable) poll of Australia's worst federal government ...
First place, with 43% of the vote, is the Morrison government. Second, with a respectable 26% of the vote, is Abbott; followed by Howard (22%), and then Rudd (7%) and others with negligible nominations. And the reasons?
Morrison: corruption, sectarianism, anti-evidence, cruel, racist, homophobic, misogynist, vindictive, dissembling; gutting the public service, biased grants, lack of openness, lack of ministerial accountability; corrupt theocracy, stacking the AAT, funding quasi religious institutions; buffoon, dishonest, embarrassing on the international stage, paucity of policy
beyond marketing spin, outright liar; misuse of public funds, bringing religion into secular govt, undermining public service, dishonesty, disdain for global warming and fossil fuel industy; spin, no substance, support for incompetent or corrupt colleagues, hypocritical, selfish, bigoted, mean.
Abbott: most dangerous and
evil person to become PM; sought advice from conservative Catholics rather than the electorate, misogynist, ignorant about climate change, racist, cruel, arrogant, inflexible, bigoted.
Howard: brainwashing into neoliberalism, privatisations, gutting public services, unjust wars, environmental vandalism, chaplaincy, lies
about tax reform, undermining universities, Americanisation; let Pauline Hanson loose; sent Australians to their deaths in Iraq, ruined the Aus Red Cross Blood Service, embarrassment at Kyoto; undermined Australians capacity to care, lied about weapons of mass destruction; private school funding, promoting ANZAC mythologies, stoking national fear, undermining the arts and universities.
Rudd: passed far too much legislation, undermining personal freedoms.
