VAD, forcing them to be transported elsewhere, with attendant pain and suffering, to say nothing of the trauma for family members. A researcher investigating institutinal objection to VAD says it is "completely abhorrent that publicly funded institutions should be allowed to deny access to legally available healthcare .. we have certainly found we need stronger national laws to address that power imbalance between institutions and individual rights."
