We want your help to send a message to the national parliament leading up to the Secularism Australia Conference in early December.

The conference sponsors have set up a petition on the Australian Parliament House website, calling for the House of Representatives to replace daily prayer rituals with more appropriate practices.

After just one week, the petition has gained 1,000 signatures!

Every day when the parliament is in session, the Speaker, Milton Dick, begins proceedings by reading two Christian prayers, including the Lord’s Prayer. We know that a number of non-Christians feel that they have to exclude themselves from the chamber during the practice.

Petitions submitted on the parliament’s website are different from other online petitions in that they require a response from the House of Representatives.

You can help us get as many signatures as possible before the closing date by sharing the petition with your friends and on social media.
