Increased public scrutiny of church-state relations in the United Kingdom is providing some hope for realising disestablishment of the state church.

 

That was the key message from Stephen Evans, of the UK's National Secular Society, at our RSA Webinar on Wednesday. He covered a number of aspects of continued religious privilege in the UK – including the bishops' bench in the House of Lords and the church's role in education – and discussed the prospects for reform.
