Dear member,

Following our Annual General Meeting last month, I want to take the opportunity to introduce you to the Rationalist Society of Australia’s new Board.

I am honoured to have been appointed to the role of President. As many of you may know, I have been a passionate advocate for secularism, in particular in my other role as a local councillor.  

I’m looking forward to leading the Board and providing oversight for the RSA’s day-to-day advocacy work, spearheaded by Executive Director Si Gladman.

We have welcomed three new and very highly credentialled people onto the Board in Nathan Zamprogno, Dr Jennifer Bleazby, and Richard Mills. I encourage you to check out their exceptional biographies on our website, via the link below.

They join our existing Board members Professor Luke Beck, Collin Acton, Si Gladman and myself.

We thank Vicki Caulfield, Stella Thomas and Arash Rashidian for the many years of service they gave as directors on the RSA Board. Without volunteers like them, organisations like the RSA simply cannot continue to operate.

Thank you for your ongoing support as a member of the RSA. The money that we raise through membership sales – plus donations and bequests – is critical in helping us cover some of our expenses.

But, as you may have seen from our 2024/25 financial statement and from the presentations at the AGM, we do face questions about long-term sustainability and how best we can have an impact in our advocacy work. I’m sure such discussions will be front of mind for the new Board.
